It’s Monday! What Are You Reading (76)

Hello Readers! I hope you had fantastic week.

My birthday week was great. We didn’t do anything special, it was just cozy birthday with family. I had a good time. And surprisingly I managed to read 3 books! I thought I wouldn’t have time to read one more this weekend but it was quick and short read that I finished in a day.

Last Week I Read-

Currently was good with impressive world-building that featured Sirens. Review will be up tomorrow.

This was quick and short and such a lovely story. I’m on blog tour for this book. Review will be up on 1st Nov.

Currently Reading-

I’m not reading anything right now. I thought to start Gravemaidens, but I read that it’s a bit slow and I’m not in a mood for slow read. I need something short and quick, so I’ll start, A Family by Christmas Viv Royce

Chocolatier Emma Miller has a new business selling bonbons to the residents of the quaint town of Wood Creek. When a tiny visitor stops by her shop with an interesting request, Emma is intrigued. The young girl needs chocolates that will help her widowed dad fall in love, preferably with her teacher. What Emma didn’t count on was Casey’s ever so charming and handsome dad, Grant, stepping into her life. She has to remind herself to be cautious because the one thing she learned in foster care is that people always leave.

Pilot Grant Galloway is touched by his daughter’s gift and is curious about the person who made the world-class chocolates. But when he steps into Emma’s shop full of delicious smells and tasty morsels, he forgets to breathe. And it has nothing to do with his favorite dessert. She’s pretty and kind, and when she has to deal with a difficult client, his protective instincts kick into high gear. But he risked his heart once. When his wife died, it left him broken. He’s just now beginning to pick up the pieces, and he and his daughter will be leaving town once the holidays are over.

Thanks to some Christmas wishes, though, these two might discover that their carefully laid plans are about to change.

Wow, I read many Christmas books this year! But this will be last one. I don’t have any other Christmas read and I’m not planning to read any more after this one.
I have heard this was lovely and as sweet as chocolates. I can’t wait to start it.

Next this week-

From the acclaimed author of The Exes’ Revenge comes a gripping thriller about a woman who desperately wants a fresh start–but discovers that the past has a way of catching up no matter how far or how fast you run…

The morning after a terrible storm, a woman calling herself Charlie Miller turns up in a remote coastal village. She’s bought a crumbling, long-vacant cottage and keeps to herself, reluctant to integrate with the locals–because if they ever find out who she really is, and what she’s done, she’ll lose what little she has left.

Charlie has a secret: she served two years in prison for providing a false alibi for a murderer. It was the mistake of a woman in love, a woman who couldn’t believe her boyfriend was guilty–or lying to her. All she wants now is to start over. But as Charlie slowly lets down her guard and becomes friendly with her neighbours, she can’t shake the feeling that someone is watching her…someone who knows what she did. When one of her new friends suddenly disappears, Charlie’s worst fears are confirmed. She must confront her past head-on, but as she knows all too well, people aren’t always who they appear to be–and you can’t always outrun your mistakes…

I’m on blog tour for this book. Isn’t it interesting? My stop is on 1st so, I’m not starting it before 25th.

It’s Birthday Monday! (75)

Hello Readers! Happy Monday, I hope you had great week.

I’m finally back to home. I honestly don’t like to visit my hometown for more than a week. I love comfort of my home. And It’s my birthday today! It was lovely to find 5 book post at my doorstep. It just made my day.

Last week I read only 1 book, here is what I read and what I’m planning to read this week-

Last Week I Read-

This was enjoyable. Loved that cover. Isn’t it cute? Review will be up later this week or next week on Monday.

For once, Kate Peters would like a happy, family Christmas; the kind of Christmas seen in the movies. She wants harmony and happiness, smiling, glowing faces, tables groaning with food, carol singing around the tree. She wants love, kindness, and goodwill to all men, especially in her own house. What she doesn’t want is drama. Absolutely no drama, whatsoever.

But what she gets is three stroppy children, two equally stroppy
grandmothers, a husband who can’t manage to change a lightbulb, and Pepe the poodle. It’s no wonder she feels unappreciated, overworked, and ignored. At the end of her tinsel-coated tether, and with the only Christmas spirit being in the form of a bottle of raspberry gin, Kate decides to leave them to it, and see how they manage without her.

A quiet little hotel somewhere near the sea, where she can pretend
Christmas doesn’t exist, is just the thing she needs. Isn’t it?

I’m just 20% into the book and I already loved the family dynamic and tricky situation of 2 mothers at Kate’s place for Christmas week.

Every year, Nerene’s village shelters in Varasay City while the surrounding lands flood. Yet Varasay only protects those who obey its laws, and after Nerene’s boyfriend Sande starts a riot, he’s in danger of being cast out. Nerene manages to contact Lord Osperacy, a traveling thief with enough power and money to save Sande, but he’ll only help Nerene if she agrees to work for him.

Eager to save her boyfriend, Nerene takes the job. Yet working for Lord Osperacy means leaving Sande behind in Varasay City. It also means tolerating Lord Osperacy’s children who have a supernatural ability to make others do as they wish, an ability the family uses to manipulate and steal.

Just as Nerene begins to despair that she’ll never see Sande again, she meets Cressit, a wealthy, charming musician. Cressit offers to help Nerene reunite with Sande, but she’s not sure he can be trusted. He has a strange interest in the Osperacy family, and he seems to know more about Nerene than he should.

Even worse, the more time Nerene spends with Cressit, the less she thinks about Sande…

when author contacted saying, ‘It takes place in a flooded world and has some steampunk elements, explores social justice and the nature of power, and there is a tidbit of mermaid lore‘ how could I say no! It sounds interesting and I cannot wait to read it.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading (74)

Hello Readers!

I’m back to my mom’s place. While my husband is conducting meeting and roaming streets of Boston (and New York in coming weekend), I decided to relax a bit and spend some time with my folks. They missed their granddaughter! But I tell you I don’t get that much time here. I didn’t even opened the flap of my laptop since 2 days, until now. But it’s always fun to boss my younger brother and there are many around to play with my daughter.

In terms of reading, I finished 2 books review 2 that finished previous week.

I loved Well Met. Right beside you was good, enjoyable but not that impressive. Both reviews will be up later this week.

I’m not reading anything as of now. As I was not active past two days. Today I will catch up on posts and at the end of the day I will start next book.

Next This week-

Dagger and Scythe spent good decade’s together, stalking human prey at night, and taking out the targets the god Maniodes deems worthy. With one hundred years under her belt, Scythe is comfortable in her ways, and takes incredible enjoyment of her skills. Dagger may be new to the undead order, but he’s relishing in the work. The two of them together set beautiful bonfires, with the occasional corpse inside that fire.

When they enjoy each other’s time a little too much, and an entire village burns down because of it, Maniodes becomes sick of their rogue behavior. Regular punishments haven’t worked on either of them, so he tries something new: marrying them to each other. To keep each other in line or they’ll both end up properly dead.

Both have grown tired of the god’s odd punishments and lazy control, taking over his throne and the land of the dead should fix things.

Her scythe is perfectly curved for slicing.
His dagger, made of folded steel, is ready to strike.
But are they strong enough to take on gods?

I read first book in this series, I quiet enjoyed the writing and unique plot. As far as I can tell from the synopsis, this is not exactly sequel but a filler of some points that were mentioned in first one. Let’s see if I’m right.

That’s it for the week. If (big if) I can finish this book by Friday, I’ll start another this weekend but I haven’t decided which yet.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading (73)

Hey readers! I hope you all had great week. Last week has been good. I received a book from author and purchased few romance. I could I miss 60-70% amazon clearance sale. I’m going to read them all in December.

Last Week I Read-

It was a week filled with secrets because read titles with ‘secret’.

This was filled with lot of drama and Cliftons-Barringtons in bigger trouble, again. This series is getting better and better. Review will be up later this week.

Currently Reading

I’m not reading anything right now. But I’m thinking to start 2 books simultaneously.

Anne of Windy Willows

The fourth book about the red-haired Anne Shirley from Green Gables.

Now a young woman and her romance with Gilbert Blythe beginning to flourish, Anne Shirley becomes Principal of Summerside High School. But Summerside is virtually ruled by the Pringle family, who don’t want Anne at the school. It takes all of Anne’s courage and tact, and the comfort she draws from the eccentric household at Windy Willows, to overcome local prejudice and confront the dreaded Pringles.

It’s high time I start with classics again and read this 4th book of Anne of Green Gable that I purchased at the beginning of the year!

The simultaneous read will be,

Barnabas Tew and the Case of the Enlightened Cow by Columbkill Noonan

I can’t find this on Goodreads. I’m on blogtour for this book in mid September. I read previous 3 books in this series and I’m excited to find in which world Barnabas Tew and his assistant are going to solve another case.

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading (72)

Hello Readers! I hope you all had wonderful week. My week was comparatively good. I read 2 books, reviewed 2 I read previous week and spent weekend watching movies, enjoying time with my daughter.

Not so good thing, I was supposed to receive a book which was sent through USPS and tracking goes until July end when it entered India. It should reach my doorstep by now but I haven’t received it yet!
Some relatives are really annoying. I’m raising my daughter as best as I can, her growth is great as per doctor, still they keep giving their dos and don’ts advises that more feel like questioning my ways! I try to ignore them but it’s really difficult when they keep pestering unceasingly.

I will review A summer To Remember next month during blog tour for this book.
Review of Deserve To Die will be up tomorrow.

Sometimes one moment can change your life forever…
Rebecca Riley has always been a bit of a pushover. When her glamorous boss, Vanessa, asks her to jump, she doesn’t just ask how high… she asks if her boss would like her to grab a coffee on the way back down!

So whilst overseeing the renovation of Vanessa’s beautiful countryside home, the last thing Rebecca ever expected was to be mistaken for her boss – or that she would even consider going along with it! Far away from the bustling city and her boss’s demanding ways, could she pretend to be Vanessa and swap lives, just for a little while?

I needed something light to suppress that tense anxious feeling of Deserve to Die. And this looked just perfect.

Next This Week-

When Carrie was accused of brutally murdering her husband’s lover, she denied it. She denied it when they arrested her, when they put her in front of a jury, and when they sent her to prison.
Now she’s three years into a fifteen-year sentence, away from the daughter she loves and the life she had built. And she is still denying that she is to blame.
Tess Gilroy has devoted her life to righting wrongs. Through her job for Innocence UK, a charity which takes on alleged miscarriages of justice, she works tirelessly to uncover the truth.
But when she is asked to take Carrie’s case, Tess realises that if she is to help this woman, she must risk uncovering the secrets she has struggled a lifetime to hide . . .
We’ve all done things we’re not proud of.

And that’s my last NetGalley book which reminds me to request new titles after finishing this one. I got tour invite for this book and saw this book around a lot last month, But I couldn’t read it before now. Almost all blogger I know reading this genre have read this book already and I have heard only positive things so I’m hopping to enjoy it.
